Live Results Recording

You can record both field event and track events live during the meeting. For both of these, start off by selecting the Event from the Start List, Start List/Results, or Results page, depending on which button appears from the competition homepage.

Field Events

The screens for recording field events are different between horizontal (e.g. Javelin) and vertical (e.g. High Jump).

Vertical Disciplines

Below is a video demonstration but please read the documentation too in order to get a full understanding of the process:

Once you have opened your event page, you should see the list of competitors. However, if no start list has been created yet, you will need to create one. You can click the Fetch Start List button, or if you require a specific order, check the Seeding page.

Vertical_StartList

You can now start to record jumps. Click the RECORD button. You will be taken to this screen:

VertRec4

Before recording any attempts, we need to set a height. Click the blue RAISE button and then type your required height.

After this, click the name (or anywhere on the line) of the person you want to record an attempt for. The names will be in the order of the start list from the previous screen. A little RECORD button will appear:

VertRec2

When you click RECORD you will see the following:

VertRec3

  • R - Retire from event
  • - Pass on this height
  • O Got over the bar
  • X Foul

When you record an attempt for an athlete, move onto the next person and record their effort.

The image below shows how the screen looks as attempts are recorded. As you can see, the colour of each athlete's bar changes as their attempts are recored.

If you make a mistake and record an incorrect attempt, you can delete the most recent attempt for an athlete by clicking the red X button and then confirming the deletion.

VertRec6

You can then record a new attempt.

To raise the bar, click NEW HEIGHT and set the new bar height. If you get it wrong, you can delete a height by clicking red X next to it.

To finish the competiton click FINISH. If the competition finishes normally, it will automatically end.

VertRec7

The results are displayed as such (but hopefully with more attempts than in this example - i.e. all heights are shown. You can also view the individuals trials and a graphical replay of the competition by clicking the relevant tabs:

Track Events - Timing Integration

The purpose of the Timing Integration management screen is to allow the meeting organiser to synchronise OpenTrack's system with the PhotoFinish technology being used for the competition. One of the major benefits of this is that it really limits the work required for the meeting organiser and the PhotoFinish operator and also enables quick-to-view results (unofficial until marked otherwise) for athletes and spectators.

Here is a video demonstrating the process. Please read through the explanation below it too.

Setup

From the Manage screen, head to Timing Integration. From here you can see what PhotoFinish systems we have currently integrated with. FinishLynx, TimeTronics, Seiko & Swiss Timing:

Manage->TI

Simply click on the one you are using. In this example, we are going to look at FinishLynx. After you have selected it, you will see this screen:

FinishLynx

There are a few configurable options (on the left) in this section:

  • License field contents - Choose from the dropdown options as to what include on the ppl file for the athletes
  • EVT file includes field event - As it says
  • EVT file should exclude completed events - The EVT file will keep updating to remove completed events and "tidy up" your file
  • EVT file includes people? - As it says
  • EVT/PPL files include full club name - Instead of just the code

Once you have set your configurable options, turn your attention to the right hand side. Here you can manually download (and/or view) the EVT & PPL files if you wish. However, to integrate, you need the latest edition of our upload program. Click Latest EXE file and download the program. Your firewall may attempt to block this so it could require an override. Once downloaded, open it:

Upload

  • Mode - Select the correct PhotoFinish program you are using
  • Folder - Designate a folder on the local machine you are using. This needs to be somewhere the PhotoFinish operator can drop a file so either their machine or over a shared network drive
  • URL - The URL of the competition (finishing with the slug)
  • Email - Your login details
  • Password - Your login details

When each item is correct, it turns green, as seen above.

Next steps:

  • Click the Click to download lynx.ppl and lynx.evt files. button. This will download the EVT & PPL files to the folder specified above. Use these on your FinishLynx program.
  • Click the Auto Download button if you wantthe EVT & PPL files to keep updating whenever changes are made. This will make the program slightly slower but no changes will be missed and you can get the dynamically updating EVT file with completed events removed.
  • Click the Click to begin uploading button. The program will now be looking in the specified folder every couple of seconds. Once a .lif file is dropped into it, the program will recognise it and send the results onto the result page for that event within seconds. The drector can sit back and just check every so often to ensure everything is running as it should. Nothing else needs to be done, other than marking the results as Official when ready.
