Competition Details Management Screen

The most basic details about your competition are defined in the competition details management screen.

Basic Details

Competition Naming

  • Full name — The full name of the competition (i.e. what it would be called on formal documents).
  • Short name — A shortened name of the competition for easier display where space is limited.

Dates

Note

If your competition takes place on one day only, both date fields should have the same date.

  • Date — The date of the first day of your competition.
  • Finish Date — The date of the final day of your competition.

Slug

Your competition's slug is the bit of the URL that will uniquely identify your competition. Try to choose something short and snappy!

Note

Your slug should be one which could be used every year, to enable you to use the same slug for any annual iterations of your competition. It's best to ensure your slug doesn't include any dates or sponsors, which could change and become outdated.

Type

You can choose from a variety of competition types in the drop-down. Make sure to pick the one which best suits your competition!

Note

Selecting the correct competition type will ensure age groups are calculated correctly for your competitors.

Location Information

  • Venue — Look up your venue in our database, and select it if it exists. If not, feel free to head over to our facilities database to add it.

Note

Our venues database consists primarily a list of stadia, and so if you have chosen road or XC as your competition type, then this field will not appear.

  • Address — The street address of your competition.
  • City — The city (or town) your competition is taking place in.

Contact Details

  • Contact name — The name of the person the contact email belongs to. Not necessary, but good to let people know who they're getting in touch with!
  • Contact email — The email address at which you can receive any queries about the competition.

Organiser

  • The organisation responsible for your competition

Warning

Ensure that your selected organisation is correct, as this field determines where money from entries is sent.

Display Settings

Basic Description

  • The description that will display on your competition homepage.
  • The box is a rich text field, and so can have hyperlinks, bold text, italics, etc.
  • This can be useful for linking to external sites, or documents, as well as bringing athletes' attention to anything specific about your competition.
  • Website — Link to the website for your competition or club.
  • External Entry Link — If entries are hosted somewhere other than OpenTrack, a link to competition entries.
  • External Results Link — If results are hosted somewhere other than OpenTrack, a link to competition results.

Custom Images

  • Display organiser logo — When ticked, the competition organiser's logo will be displayed in the header on every page.
  • Custom image — Upload an image to be displayed on your competition homepage.

Video URL

The URL of a video that you wish to display on the competition homepage, e.g. YouTube highlights from last year's competition.

Note

If using this field, an embed link is required to display the video correctly on your competition homepage. If using YouTube, the Share button gives the option to copy an embed link.

Show/Hide Tickboxes

First Column

  • Show category rankings - When ticked, shows category position for athletes in results.
  • Show age grades - When ticked, age graded scores show in results.
  • Hide results - When ticked, the START LISTS/RESULTS button does not show on the competition homepage, and results pages cannot be accessed by anyone without competition permissions.
  • Hide unit status - When ticked, the option to change the unit status will not show on heat-level pages.
  • Use secondary team flags - When ticked, competitors' flags will be those of their second team, if it exists.

Second Column

  • Show individual points - When ticked, shows combined events points for all events, rather than just those that are part of a combined event.
  • Show WA points - When ticked, World Athletics points are calculated and shown in results.
  • Show Raza points - If competitors have a relevant para-athletics category and are competing in an event where points can be calculated, Raza points are shown in results.
  • Hide unseeded - When ticked, lists of unseeded competitors are hidden on event pages.
  • Hide competitors - When ticked, the COMPETITORS button does not show on the competition homepage.
  • Display full club names - When ticked, full club names will be displayed rather than club codes in results.

Miscellaneous Settings

  • Show medal table - When ticked, medal table will be generated, accessible from the competition homepage.
  • Team Types - Select whether the teams athletes are representing in the match are clubs in our database, national teams, or ad-hoc teams.

Tickboxes

  • Non-scorers display last? - When ticked, athletes marked as non-scorers will be sorted to the end of results lists
  • Show slides button - When ticked, a downloadable slideshow of social cards for all the events in your competition will be made accessible from the competition homepage for users with management access to the competition.
  • Push notifications - When ticked, push notifications can be sent to the a live stream, read more here.
  • Has live splits - When ticked, the Order tab will show on results pages, and live splits can be uploaded while your race is running. If you're using chip timing with this capability, contact us, and we'll happily help you set things up.
  • Using pacers - When ticked, the Pacers tab will show on results pages for events where pacer information has been added. Currently pacer input is limited to specific competitions, as this feature is still being tested.
  • Send to Vinco - When ticked, start lists and results are sent direct to the broadcaster Vinco.

Advanced Details

Competition advanced settings

Home Country

If your competition is in the UK, select whether the competition is in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales.

Competition IDs

  • Tilastopaja ID — ID of this competition in the Tilastopaja database, usually blank
  • European Athletics ID — ID of this competition in the European Athletics database, usually blank
  • National Competition ID — ID of this competition in the relevant national federation's database, usually blank

League

If your competition is part of a league hosted on OpenTrack, you can select the league and season here to ensure this competition is included in the league scores.

Tickboxes

  • Hide from public — When ticked, your competition will be hidden from the public, and only accessible using the competition's URL.
  • Cancelled — When ticked, this will allow users to still access the competition, which will show as cancelled, as an alternative to deleting it altogether.
