TV Console

About

OpenTrack’s TV Console allows you to seamlessly add overlays to your broadcast of a competition, and provide your audience with key information live throughout the competition such as timetables, start lists, live results and team scoring.

How it works

The TV console draws live data from OpenTrack’s competition management system, allowing you to display up-to-date startlists and live results on livestream broadcasts or large stadium screens.

The console can easily be shared to streaming software such as OBS or vMix using remote screen-sharing.

Features

The TV console can be controlled using the menu & info bar at the top of the screen.

TV Console menu

The menu can be used to set up before your broadcast starts, with most features also being bound to keyboard inputs to allow you to control the console during the broadcast.

The info bar will display live updates on results as they come in, as well as current event selection.

The menu and info bar can be hidden with the keyboard shortcut - Z (toggle show/hide)

Selecting a meeting

You can launch the tv console directly from the competition management screens using the “launch tv console” button. This will give you a bespoke URL with your competition data preloaded.

TV Console launch

Alternatively you can use the “get meeting list” menu item and search for your competition directly from the tv console. (The meeting list year can be changed in the settings menu).

Event Selection

Once you have loaded the competition, a list of the events will be displayed in the event selection menu. You can select events from this menu and the relevant event data will be loaded in the background ready for you to display (e.g. start list or result).

TV Console event select

Your current event selection will be updated in the info bar.

During the broadcast, you can switch between events using:
. (full stop) - previous event
/ (forward slash) - next event

There are several option for on screen displays which can be brought up using the displays menu, or using the following keyboard shortcuts:

TV Console displays

If a timetable, start list, or results display has more items than fit on one page, you can scroll through the pages using the up and down arrow keys.

TV Console timetable

The start list and results displays will show the data from the currently selected event. You can move to the next event while this display is still showing and the next event’s data will load automatically.

The scores screen allows you to display the results of the scoring for your event, scoring type is specified in your competition's MANAGE > SCORING page where you can set the Scoring System.

The look and feel of these displays (including the logo) can be customised within the tv console section of the competition management system.

Settings

TV Console settings

API mode

The API mode can be set to LIVE or TEST data. This signifies whether the tv console is loading data from OpenTrack’s live server or its test server.
It will default to LIVE, and this should be used during a live competition, but you can set it to TEST to practice with a test version of your competition in advance.

You can double check this setting in the dev tools console which will display:
KEY= 2b94ba526eda8332e32a (for LIVE)
KEY= 62fbd6418ed94ae09473 (for TEST)

Competition search filters

These settings relate to the “get meeting list” search for loading competition data:
Country = Identify the relevant country of the competition.
Year = Identify the relevant year the competition is run in.
Language = For competitions in places like Cyprus where some names have special characters.

Transitions and animations

Transitions = smooth transitions between different frames shown
Screen cursor = Hide cursor whilst on the screen so people cannot see it in the broadcast

Live data pop-ups

Show latest jump/throw = automatically display the latest field event results as they are updated in the bottom left corner of the screen
Autodisplay track results = automatically display the latest track event results once they have been updated on the OpenTrack competition page (useful for stadium screens)

You can double check these settings in the dev tools console which will display:

pusher tracking fieldevents = true/false

pusher tracking trackevents = true/false
